Founded in 1973, the Biennale of Sydney today ranks as one of the world’s leading international festivals of contemporary art. Positioned as Australia’s largest and best attended contemporary visual arts event, the Biennale is renowned for commissioning and premiering new art works by acclaimed international and Australian artists and for the discovery of new artistic talent.

We relish our reputation and the vital role the Biennale plays in promoting Australia’s cultural wealth internationally. Each Biennale is only made possible through committed and generous private donors who assist in making each ambitious event a reality, enjoying the connection this support brings.

 

AMBASSADORS

Passionate and visionary members of our community rise to the occasion and pledge $25,000 each Biennale to become Ambassadors and eminent champions of the event. Our Ambassadors enjoy exclusive access to the exhibition, the artists and visiting dignitaries, plus networking opportunities with like-minded individuals.

 

BENEFACTORS

Our Benefactors pledge a minimum of $5000 and enjoy being part of a small group of like-minded patrons who are the first to meet visiting artists and preview the exhibition with the Artistic Director.

 

All donations are tax-deductible* and enable the Biennale of Sydney to:

• keep admission free so that it can be enjoyed by all
• commission new projects by some of the world’s most innovative artists
• develop and promote Australian art and artists, nationally and internationally
• expose Australian audiences to the best of international contemporary art
• promote tolerance, mutual understanding and international cultural exchange
• expand our education program for young people and build arts education through our public program and publications

 In acknowledging such generosity, the Biennale of Sydney ensures our supporters have a unique and specialised experience of the Biennale program. The Biennale acknowledges generous donations in Biennale publications, on signage and on the corporate and exhibition websites.

Biennale of Sydney Ambassadors and Benefactors are an integral of the organisation’s network with every relationship highly valued by the organisation. In addition to Biennale programs, the Biennale connects our supporters outside the exhibition period with future Artistic Directors, visiting art world VIPs, and with international programs including Art Compass (linking the Biennale of Sydney with Gwangju, Shanghai and Singapore Biennales and Yokohama Triennale) and the Venice Biennale.
