The Biennale of Sydney extends a generous thank you to everyone who volunteered their time for the 2008 exhibition, we certainly couldn't have done it without you.
Why have volunteers?
The Biennale of Sydney welcomes volunteers into our organisation for a variety of reasons:
What are our goals for your experience and our relationship?
How are you involved in the Biennale of Sydney?
Volunteers and interns can be involved in the Biennale of Sydney in a variety of capacities. This could be through a formal internship with a university or college program, a day a week as a volunteer to gain an insight into our workings, or anything in between.
Volunteers are managed through the administration department of the Biennale of Sydney. We work out who is the best fit for various roles and positions. We also endeavor to provide the best possible support, supervision and guidance to ensure a valuable and useful experience for all involved.
What are your Roles and Responsibilities?
Volunteers are invited to assist in a variety of areas. Levels of responsibility may vary from basic roles to being in charge of a specific project for an internship.
Potential Roles within the Biennale of Sydney include:
What about Formal Internships or Industry Placements?
The Biennale of Sydney welcomes students who need to complete formal internships and industry placements as part of their university or college study. Internships are similar to working as a volunteer but generally involve working on specific projects that may include in-depth research, writing or similar. For longer internships it is worth contacting the Biennale of Sydney a few months in advance to organise details.
For Internship coordinators and university staff
Please do not hesitate to contact the Biennale of Sydney for more information about regular internship placements and volunteer opportunities for your students. We can tailor these placements to meet the needs of your course or students and offer written assessment where requested. The Biennale does not offer insurance for industry or academic placements.
How do you go about becoming involved?
The first step is to send in a letter with:
From there we will be in contact when we have a project that suits your interests. At this stage you could come in and meet us and we could discuss your potential involvement in the Biennale of Sydney. Commencing as a volunteer or intern involves an induction process, an opportunity to meet all the staff and to learn about the history and future plans of the Biennale of Sydney. Your time at the Biennale may be short term or long term. Either way we look forward to working with you and sharing this fantastic event!
